I was in awe and still in awe since I first encountered the term “emotional intelligence” How could this term have existed for so long yet still so new? How could two words that have so much to teach on every level get pushed back to the back burner with no mention? How can an ingredient so important in living and leading not get the attention it deserves?

EI in summary is the ability to be self-aware, manage self and social relationships. Needed in every relationship? A must!

And every day, I find new insights that makes this a necessity especially in a time Artificial intelligence is gaining traction and you can have that one capability AI can’t fully have – emotional intelligence. A competitive advantage no doubt.

“…While we do not know what these jobs will be, it is clear that people will be equipped to do them if they have certain soft skills such as emotional intelligence, drive and learnability.  Moreover these foundational skills may become even more important with the rise of AI”

I agree.

I think emotional intelligence should be part of every training, learning or leadership development initiative. No. It must be a part of each.

And I have followed scholars who are doing great things and stretching the term emotional intelligence as we know it like ”Emotional Agility”(thank you Susan David!)
